The question of the day is this: what is the ‘first principles of the gospel’? The transliteration of the gospel is; good news. Where is the good news of making sure you have to obey all the principles? That was what the Law was about!
Furthermore, it is because of Jesus spilt blood that we are brought in to a relationship with God. Once we accept this, the Holy Spirit does His work in our heart that continues to sanctify our lives.

“It is this Spirit that brings us into relationship with God, and it differs very materially from the portion of spirit that is given to all men to profit withal. The special gift of the Holy Ghost is obtained, as I have said, through obedience to the first principles of the Gospel. Its province is to lead us into all truth, and to bring to our remembrance things past, present and to come.” John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, 23:323 – 326.
