October 11 – Tarrying with the Lord. 1 John 4:13; “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.”

It’s interesting the passage in the Doctrine and Covenants says the Holy Ghost can dwell in us just as it states in the passage of First John. Mormons don’t believe the Holy Ghost can do this, just as the rest of their passage states.
The word dwell in the Greek is “menoô”. A primary verb meaning to stay in a given place, to abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry…
Just as Jesus told us in John 14:16-18, He will never leave us comfortless. If this wasn’t true then why would Jesus promise us this?
Share how comforting this is to you as a Christian! Just to think upon this passage gives me hope for the rest of my day, tomorrow, next week…
Thank you God!

Doctrine and Covenants 130:22-23; “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us. A man may receive the Holy Ghost, and it may descend upon him and not tarry with him.”
