January 4 –– Jesus, or Joseph – who’s your Messiah? John 4:19-26 “The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”

Each time I read the biblical passage above it stops me in my tracks. Even if you’re a guy, imagine for moment what it’d be like if you were the woman at the well! How would you react to such a statement?
Many today have rejected it, and I’m remorse to say that by and large, my own people have done so as well. As late as 2005, then apostle Thomas Monson was teaching Joseph Smith died as an example for us to follow. See image in our post for January 3, 2018. As bad as that statement was, it only gets worse with doctrines other leaders have promulgated. There’s nothing in the Bible telling us there were two Saviors. If it was true Joe Smith’s restoration of the gospel was needed for salvation, why did God tell us otherwise all throughout His word?
