October 17 –– Self exaltation. Matthew 23:12 “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”

Many times when the word ‘however’ is used it’s an indication to disregard everything that was previously said. Today, that theory is true with the false teaching Mr. Cook spouted out at a conference a number of years ago.
We can no more be ‘saviors on Mt. Zion’ than we can fly to the moon by flapping our arms hard enough.
If Mr. Cook truly believed Jesus gave His life as an atonement for sin, he wouldn’t have included the other things he said. Ask the Mormon this: if Jesus paid for sin, why would He need a sinful man to help him pay for sin? And where is the humility in knowing you are saved?

“Jesus Christ gave His life as a vicarious atonement. … He overcame death for all mankind, which we could not do for ourselves. We can, however, perform vicarious ordinances and truly become saviors on Mount Zion for our own families in order that we, with them, might be exalted as well as saved.” — Quentin L. Cook, “Roots and Branches”
