Alma 34:32-33 “For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors. . . . if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.”
Hebrews 9:27; “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”
Today we’re simply asking members of the LDS Church why the Book of Mormon contradicts what they’re doing in the temples.
Moreover, our hearts are saddened to read the latest news of how the Church has once again changed the temple endowment ceremony. Apparently women are no longer required to ‘hearken’ to their husbands, and husbands are no longer the intermediaries between women and God.
Although the ceremony now has Eve playing a bigger role with more dialogue, it’s been extensively shortened. In addition to all this, garments went through another revision, and gone is the temple film which has been replaced with still shots. Most noteworthy perhaps are changes they’ve made to the covenants they take.
Jana Reiss from Religion News quoted an LDS member who made the following comment after going through the new ceremony —
“Women for generations have told their daughters and granddaughters… that the specific form of the ordinance was necessary for their salvation. That it was worth doing something that felt wrong to ultimately gain something right, in a similar way it was worth it for Eve and the choice she made in the Garden of Eden. These women will now wonder whether they were wrong.”
That is just downright sad, and breaks our hearts. Meanwhile…
According to the Salt Lake Trib feminist Mormons are lauding the changes, however, they believe the Church still has more work to do regarding gender equality. The Trib also pointed out changes made to the endowment ceremony in 1990 were ‘significant’, but the latest changes ‘go far beyond that’.
The Church’s announcement stated there have been numerous changes to the ceremony over the years. We’re wondering how that works in light of Smith’s prophecy declaring they mustn’t ever change! See ‘Temple Endowments, Can They Change?’
We echo the LDS woman who said ‘these women will now wonder whether they were wrong’. I can’t imagine going through these rituals knowing the Church has always proclaimed nothing can be changed, and here they are being revised once again.
Please, pray for those who are going through the temples to realize it’s all for naught. They need Jesus, not Joseph’s pretended Masonic oaths to get into heaven!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
In Malachi 3:6 and in Hebrews 13:8, the Lord tells us that he DOES NOT CHANGE; that he is the same yesterday, today and forever. Church leaders always seem to have some change(s) in mind for the church. These changes are said to be a result of revelation or inspiration.given to them by God. If God doesn’t change, how come the Mormon church is always changing? If God revealed a truth to Joseph Smith or Brigham Young, what makes you think that God would change his mind? When church leaders say or reveal anything that is contrary to God’s Word (Bible) what they are saying is not of God!!! Joseph Smith’s translation of the Bible is about as sacred as his marrying multiple women. God is not double minded nor is he the God of confusion(James 1:8 and 1 Corinthians 14:38)
This is all mind-blowing to me. In a group on Facebook, I saw a Mormon say this was changed to be more “culturally relevant”. Since when does God care about being culturally relevant? If that’s the case then soon we should be hearing they are performing same-sex weddings in the temple. I’m so glad that I serve a God who doesn’t change just for the world. – Melissa Grimes
Culturally Relevant…You have to be kidding me! God is God, God is not of this world nor is He is part of any particular culture. When you keep one eye on the world and one eye on God, you get tripped up. “Love not the world neither the things that are in the world (cultural standards). If any man love the world then love of God is not in him.For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes (changing Gods word to be easily digested) and the pride of this life (build more temples to be seen), is not of the Father but is of the world
( 1 John 2:15,16).
The Church has become quite adept at being culturally relevant. Their first try at this is seen in their 1st Manifesto declaring a truce over polygamy. The 2nd declaration came into play when they finally accepted dark people in 1978.
So now they’re taking little steps to appease the women who are still irate they didn’t get the priesthood.
Hold on tight folks. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a try at mixed priesthood quorums and then who knows. the SSM (same sex marriage) topic may just be the inroad to inoculate against the shock of bringing polygamy back.
Nothing at all would surprise me with this organization. I just pray my mother would know Jesus, and leave… yesterday wouldn’t be soon enough.
The church needs to focus on God and not public opinion. “For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” (John 12:43). It seems like there are so many rules, doctrines, policies, ceremonies, standards of what is and isn’t acceptable in the church, that even long time members get confused. We have had classes in Priesthood Quorum on particular subjects, where the discussion reaches an impasse because there is disagreement or confusion about what a particular doctrine says or means. “God is not the author of confusion , but of peace in all churches of the saints.” (1 Corinthians 14:33). When President Nelson announced the end of Home Teaching and the start up of the Ministry program, there was confusion. It seemed like HT and Ministry sessions were almost the same thing. People wanted to know, do I still have assigned families, do I still visit them monthly or do I only visit the ones who need ministering to?
O Lord, pls open the eyes of my family members. They must play an amazing game of Twister to keep buying the new ‘revelations’ that have nothing to do with praising Jesus nor salvation. The church leadership are in cohoots with the devil.
Miss Sandra –
Wanted to let you know we’re praying for you and your family –
We’re praying someone will say something about Jesus that will spark their curiosity.
As I’ve always said, if Jesus can/will save me, He’ll save anyone! 🙂
