September 9 – Ever learning without truth. 2 Timothy 3:6-7 “For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

In reference to our Bible passage today, Matthew Henry once said ‘men will love their carnal selves more than their spiritual selves’. That’s very telling in light of the Mormon reference. When the top LDS Historian was asked why the BoM carries so much of Isaiah and Malachi word for word, his answer told us that Mormons will gladly accept anything their leaders say as long as they aren’t told to ditch them, and study God’s word to learn the truth. His answer was a childish one with no substance.

New Witnesses for God 3:428 – 429 “When Joseph Smith saw that the Nephite record was quoting the prophecies of Isaiah, of Malachi, or the words of the Savior, he took the English Bible and compared these passages as far as they paralled [sic] each other, and finding that in substance, they were alike, he adopted our English translation; and hence, we have the sameness to which you refer.” – B. H. Roberts, 1909
I have said this many, many times, but it always bears repeating. The Mormons Church does not want it;’s members delving too deeply into the Bible. The church would never deny the Bible, too many of their teachings come from the Bible. What the church does instead, is it puts together Bible Study guides that are used when teaching Bible lessons. There are many Bible verses that contradict the BOM or that warn readers of people like Joe Smith. The church study guides are composed in such a way as to avoid such passages of scripture.
Did you leave the Mormons?
Oh! I just read your “exit story”. I see that you have left LDS.
If this was true, how come Joseph Smith never said anything about this?
