President Nelson’s 95th Birthday Celebration “A gala celebrating the 95th birthday of President Russell M. Nelson will be held Friday, September 6, 2019, at 8:00 p.m. mountain daylight time in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City and will be broadcast live in eight languages on various Church channels…”
Galatians 1:6-8 “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
For the past several days the Church has gone overboard on promoting the upcoming birthday of their prophet, Russell Nelson.
Earlier today (9/6/19), the top half of their site had a picture of him, along with a live countdown until the official celebration. Tomorrow we’re looking at some other items on their front page that should cause members great concern about what their leaders are doing in Salt Lake City.
Today we’re simply asking why.
Why would a so-called Christian church place so much emphasis on one man, who by the way, is not Jesus? With all the needless work of changing URL’s this past year to emphasize the name of Jesus, it’s puzzling they’d go to such extremes with a simple birthday.
What purpose does all the hoopla serve?
Who is glorified in this? God, or man?
Who’s footing the bill for this ‘gala’?
Where is the direction of their adoration focused?
When did God ever tell us to celebrate man in this manner?
And finally beloved, how does all this benefit the average Mormon like my mother?
As always, remember to pray for all Mormons to see the futility in this, and celebrate Jesus and what He did in life!
With Love in Christ;

The other day I watched a video of an ex Mormon couple who recently went to see the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, in SLC. And when they got to the part when one of the characters said “I sustain president Nelson” a lot of people booed. I guess one could read a lot into that.
As a side note…I recall reading when the play first opened the church sent missionaries to the theaters to hand out tracts, and answer questions. And they ask why Christians go to their events.
Hey there Melissa!
I know the Church sent out missionaries to troll the entrance to the show when it first came out.
I say this w/ personal knowledge because my brother-in-law actually got tickets to the showing in NY right after it hit Broadway, and witnessed the missionaries all over the place after the performance. He actually called me as they were leaving the show and asked if I knew they were doing that.
It was news to me, but it didn’t take long for the story to make it to the papers, and they confirmed what my brother-in-law had said.
I think the funds would have been better spent on helping the victims of hurricane Dorian.
AMEN!
“For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” (John 12:43)
Boy, if that ain’t ever the truth! Sigh…
