General Conference, ‘Keeping Life’s Demands in Balance,’ April 1987 “Just do the very best you can each day. Do the basic things and, before you realize it, your life will be full of spiritual understanding that will confirm to you that your Heavenly Father loves you. When a person knows this, then life will be full of purpose and meaning, making balance easier to maintain.” — M. Russell Ballard
Romans 3:12 “They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
We pray it’s easy to see Mr. Ballard’s words are a lie. Doing the best we can falls way short of God’s standard. Being nice to your neighbor won’t get you closer to understanding Jesus. It’s heartbreaking someone of his caliber would proclaim such lies.
We learn more about the Lord through what He says to us in His word. The only way this is done is through studying what it says in the Bible, and listening to reputable teachers who preach His word!
In addition to the Bible verses above, we also have God’s assurance everyone will know Him – Jeremiah 31:34, Hebrews 8:11.
One last thing beloved, don’t forget Isaiah 64:6 – our works are as filthy rags.
With Love in Christ;
