Journal of Discourses 13:155 “We have a work on hand whose magnitude can hardly be told. We have now to go to and save ourselves according to the plan provided for our salvation, the Savior having done for us all that he can, except to impart unto us grace to aid us in our lives, and to save our families, friends, ancestors, and the nations that have lived before us and those that may come after us, that all may be brought unto God and be saved, except the sons of perdition. This is the labor we have before us.” — Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, November 14, 1869
Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Oh dear. This is one of the times you have to wonder what people are thinking by extolling this man.
If Jesus came to seek and save those who are lost, what part is missing? Mr. Young’s words are a slam towards our dear Lord by making it sound as if His work wasn’t sufficient. Lord have mercy!!!
Pray for those who still believe this man was inspired. He gave this speech 150 years ago, but it’s obviously still in effect today, e.g. baptisms for the dead.
With Love in Christ;

“And He said t the woman, your faith has saved you, go in peace.” (Luke 7:50)
Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though through works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.” (romans 9:52)
“Obtaining as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (1 Peter 1:19);
‘For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2: 8,9)
Amen
“And He said to the woman, your faith has saved you,go in peace.” (Luke 7:50) In this verse the woman experienced the forgiveness of sins not because of love but through faith,which was evidenced in the way she honored Jesus in her act of washing his feet( Before; in verse 47 of chapter 7 It says, “ Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—-for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little. “ When it says “For she loves much” that refers not to the cause of the woman’s forgiveness, but the result of it.( One of my favorite stories)
Romans 9:32(not 52;sorry if I seem like a no it all) “ Before, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” And the “stumbling” over Christ was prophesied in Isaiah 28:16. Those who trust in Christ will not experience end-time “shame”. And I agree( if that’s what your meaning) that people try to gain salvation through their works and not by faith(but could u elaborate on what your meaning if that’s not what your really trying to say.
I believe that these verses about faith just prove what I believe even more; that we are saved by faith and not of our good works.
If we want to go to heaven by our good works then we would have to be perfect and never sin( which is impossible bc we all have fallen short of the glory of God),and we would be wasting our time trying to get to heaven by our works thinking that God will accept us only if we don’t sin. But the reality is that Jesus took on flesh and died on the cross for our sins so that we could go to heaven and be with him for eternity and because he loves us! And this sacrifice that Jesus provided was a sufficient sacrifice for sin once and for all to secure perfect righteousness. My beliefs are contrary to Mormons, and I know this but I still want to get to know those who don’t believe what I believe and have good conversations about philosophy. And I want my blog(that I’m working on) to be where anyone with any beliefs can come and learn about different philosophies and talk about these philosophies with respect and kindness!
And I would love it if you would like to talk about this more with y’all(if you want to talk you could comment on my first blog post(ironically about Mormonism( I’m not going to talk crap about Mormons or Mormonism)) or you could email me at 250027@amaisd.net)
Lastly I just want to get to know more people that don’t believe the same thing that I do and learn what others believe. Blessings!
Question: I just got this app a few weeks ago and this problem has been consistently happening; I would make this really long response on comments but then nothing happened and my comment never was actually on comments,and know I have been typing for like 15–20 minion response and I finished but my response to soldiermp wasn’t on comments. So? Could you help me?
Hi William – welcome to Life After Ministries!
As a quick FYI, comments don’t automatically post until someone at the ministry authorizes them. 🙂 We typically try to do this asap, however, if a comment comes in later at night, it probably won’t go up until the next morning. It’s not that we don’t want to publish your comments, it’s just that we might be busy, or have shut off the computers for the day. 🙂
In Him,
Michelle
Ok cool that makes since , Thanks!
