An article in the January 2020 Liahona contained a weekly lesson for the LDS ‘Come Follow Me’ series they’re doing in their studies for the Book of Mormon. The lies they feed to the youth group is heartbreaking. They know these are lies and yet they keep telling the same story.
What caught our attention was the image of someone, or something, floating around in the clouds with the caption underneath stating –
In a vision, Nephi saw that many of the teachings in the Bible would be changed over time but that God would prepare a way for those truths to be restored (see 1 Nephi 13:26–40).
The Fall of Adam and Eve was a part of Heavenly Father’s plan (see 2 Nephi 2:22–25).
We existed as spirits before this life, learning and preparing for mortality (see Alma 13:3).
Christ visited the people of the ancient Americas and established His Church there (see 3 Nephi 11–26).
Baptism is not needed for infants because they are not yet accountable (see Moroni 8:10).
We’re looking at the four items that were supposedly restored.
1. The Fall of Man was never part of God’s plan for man! God is a Holy God who hates sin!
Psalm 5:4 “ For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: Neither shall evil dwell with thee.”
2. 1 Corinthians 15:44-47 refutes the idea we were living with God in heaven before coming to earth. John 3:13 confirms this as well –
“And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.”
3. Without belaboring the obvious, we’ll simply ask: Where’s the proof?
4. While the Church is trying to nitpick their way through this, the story behind this is of greater import. The surrounding verses in Moroni chapter 8 teaches that children are born without sin. This is diametrically opposed to the entire Bible! 1 John 1:10 says that if we say we’re without sin, we make Him a liar, and in verse 8, it says that we’ve deceived ourselves if we believe such a thing!
Romans 3:23 clearly states everyone has sinned.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”.
Be sure to share these truths with a Mormon – and most importantly, don’t forget to pray for them.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
