March 19 – Geography Lessons Needed for Book of Mormon. Numbers 14:25 “(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley). To morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea”.
_____
Use this verse as a geography lesson for the Mormon. There has never been a river that empties into the Red Sea. It’s surrounded by wilderness (desert) only. Ironically, a canal was built to bring in water about 400 years ago, and that’s the only water anywhere in this area.
_____
1 Nephi 2:8 “And it came to pass that he called the name of the river, Laman, and it emptied into the Red Sea; and the valley was in the borders near the mouth thereof.”
The Book of Mormon is filled with inacurracies, both geographicaL and historical. The Hill Cunorah is one example. According to the BOM many battles were fought there, In one battle, over two million soldiers were allegedly killed. A battle that size would have been the largest battle in the history of the world and certainly there were be evidence (archeological) of such a massive battle taking place. There is no evidence that wars were ever fought on this hillside in Manchester,, New York. As of 1990,,all the General Authorities insisted that the Hill Cumorah was in New York, where JS said it was. Now, some of the GA’s are claiming that this particular hill might have been located in Mexico, Latin or South America. The GA’s are covering their tracks. After all, wht can Pres Nelson say when archeologists insist there is no evidence, whatsoever, of any major battles being fought in that particular region of NY..
The Mormons must be getting tired, constantly having to find excuses for inaccuracies in their beloved BOM. What amazes me, is that so many members of the church simply ignore the facts.
I do believe, however, that the many inaccuracies in the BOM, along with certain facts being revealed about Joe Smith and Brigham Young, are starting to take hold within the church. This is why so many members of the church are going “Less Active” or resigning their memberships altogether.
