March 23 — Purpose of a Temple. 2 Timothy 3:7 “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
_____
Mormons have it all wrong with their idea of what God’s temple was used for. In the OT it was there to worship God as the priests offered songs and sacrifices, and it’s where God resided – 2 Chronicles 5. The other use for it was prayer – see 2 Chronicles 6. For info on items inside the temple see our series Furniture of the Temple.
On this side of the cross, true believers are the temple of God – 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19.
Creating structures, and calling them temples is far from reality in the operations of the Holy God we know in the Bible!
The works performed in Mormon temples is nothing but necromancy so beware my friends! The recent earthquake in SLC reminded us of Melissa’s article when she wrote about the false god Dagon.

“When you come to the temple you will love your family with a deeper love than you have ever felt before. The temple is about families. As my wife, Karen, and I have increased our temple service, our love for each other and for our children has increased. And it doesn’t stop there. … This is the Spirit of Elijah, which is the spirit of family history work; and when inspired by the Holy Ghost, it prompts the turning of the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to the fathers. Because of the priesthood, husbands and wives are sealed together, children are sealed to their parents for eternity so the family is eternal and will not be separated at death.” — Ensign, ‘The Temple is about Families,’ November 2006, Richard Winkel
Mormon temple ceremonies are about as spiritual as a Batman comic book. I never felt spiritually uplifted going to the temple. In fact, I always felt very uncomfortable. The hand signs, secret words, and teachings were devised and created by Satan, to lure men into believing they have achieved a closer connectio to God, theri families, their friends and to dead people as a whole.
