April 18 — Backseat Driving God’s Love for Us. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Matthew 5:17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”

God’s great love for mankind didn’t supersede His commandments, however, because of His love, Jesus came here to fulfill them. Mr. Oaks tried to remove any hint of God’s love for us in order to fulfill the Church’s agenda of works.
Our Great God isn’t in need of what meager advice we could offer, and attempting to be the backseat driver in God’s plan will never work beloved.

Ensign, ‘Love and Law’, Nov. 2009, 28 “If a person understands the teachings of Jesus, he or she cannot reasonably conclude that our loving Heavenly Father or His divine Son believes that Their love supersedes Their commandments. . . . The effect of God’s commandments and laws is not changed to accommodate popular behavior or desires.” — Dallin H. Oaks
