1 Nephi 4:2 “Therefore let us go up; let us be strong like unto Moses; for he truly spake unto the waters of the Red Sea and they divided hither and thither, and our fathers came through, out of captivity, on dry ground, and the armies of Pharaoh did follow and were drowned in the waters of the Red Sea.” — BC 600-592
Helaman 8:11 “Therefore he was constrained to speak more unto them saying: Behold, my brethren, have ye not read that God gave power unto one man, even Moses, to smite upon the waters of the Red Sea, and they parted hither and thither, insomuch that the Israelites, who were our fathers, came through upon dry ground, and the waters closed upon the armies of the Egyptians and swallowed them up?” — BC 23-20
Exodus 14:15-16, 21 “And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: 16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. 21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.”
There are a host of problems in the BoM version of when the Red Sea was parted.
1.Nephi stated Moses spoke to the sea and it parted.
2.Helaman claimed that God gave Moses power to part the waters.
3.Helaman also claimed Moses smote the waters to part the sea.
4.The Bible states God told Moses to lift up his rod, and stretch out his hand over the waters.
If the BoM is the most correct book on the face of the earth, why are there conflicting stories that stretched out over 569 years?
Another thing worth noting is how Joe Smith took the power of God, and placed it into the hands of created man. He totally ignored the fact God is the one that parted the waters.
As you can see, this is yet another reason showing why Joseph Smith’s story is false. Ask your Mormon friend what they think of this!

It’s hard to determine if they have more contradictions or more false prophecies.
I know right? It makes for a dismal gospel …
It is a shame that your eyes are not opened to the truth, as you have taken these verses out of context. In the verse preceding 1 Nephi 4:2, it speaks of the power of God and throughout the entire Book of Mormon it continually says that all things are done by the power of God. I have read this and known it to be true, so please read the entire Book of Mormon before twisting its doctrine to suit your agenda.
