1 Nephi 13:16-18 “And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld that the Gentiles who had gone forth out of captivity did humble themselves before the Lord; and the power of the Lord was with them. 17 And I beheld that their mother Gentiles were gathered together upon the waters, and upon the land also, to battle against them. 18 And I beheld that the power of God was with them, and also that the wrath of God was upon all those that were gathered together against them to battle.” [emp. added]
John 7:38 “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
“The full flood of my life is not in bodily health, not in external happenings, not in seeing God’s work succeed, but in the perfect understanding of God, and in the communion with Him that Jesus Himself had. The first thing that will hinder this joy is the captious irritation of thinking out circumstances. The cares of this world, said Jesus, will choke God’s word. …He wants to get us to the place where we will be His witnesses and proclaim Who Jesus is. Be rightly related to God, find your joy there, and out of you will flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). Be a centre for Jesus Christ to pour living water through.” My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers
In Mormonism there are numerous ordinances serving as ‘captious irritations’, as Mr. Chambers called them. One of the most egregious is their belief another gospel is needed.
Today’s reference shows how Joseph Smith tricked people into adopting make believe stories that took their attention away from the Lord.
The BoM passage is but a small example of how their gospel is bereft of anything about Jesus. Instead of information about Jesus, they’re told about ‘mother gentiles’ – whatever that is…
They’re also told the Gentiles came out of captivity. There’s no info about a supposed captivity, where it took place, how long it lasted, etc. It was another way for Smith to fill a page with letters. To read more of that passage, see link provided above.
The heart of every Christian is typically filled with a yearning to know more about who Jesus is, and what His life was like here on earth. Unfortunately, there’s nothing in the BoM that leads LDS members to have the desire to dig deeper. Moreover, their leaders don’t advocate it either.
Ask the Mormon you know if they can define the meaning of ‘mother Gentiles’. Please, do this is a loving manner, and not in a condescending way!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
It’s only the adversary who doesn’t want us to trust the Bible. And because of his lies he wants us to turn our attention away from the Bible. Hey! Look over here shiney, shiney golden bible.
God warns us about this many, many times. Read Galatians 1: 6-9. Paul actually repeats himself.
The term mother gentiles is someone who is not of a jew. To put that in perspective they are people of christ nourishers of christ’s gospel. People to help spread his name. However jews would be the people of god. The people of god would be of the 12 isrealite tribes. In short terms it is saying that they are ready to take down the words of the devil(Which would in fact take down heathens), and lower Satan’s number of people as known as destruction of satan’s people because of the destruction of evil. Gentiles are people of christ.(Heathens are what we would call evil). Which means they are missionaries referring to the work christ has given them.
So it’s referring to missionary work threw the lord christ.
