‘For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day.’ 2 Timothy 1:12
Before we look at today’s text, take a moment to reflect on the Bible verse above, and keep it in mind as we look at what Mr. Jackson said at the last General Conference. We’re certain that if anyone calling themselves a Christian would remember Paul’s words, organizations like Mormonism would be non-existent.
As an FYI, we’re looking at just a portion of Mr. Jackson’s talk. The reason for this is because of the numerous lies he told. We’ve pulled a few, and addressed them to show how Christians can pray for, and use them as a witnessing tool. To read it in full, see link below.
Remember beloved, we’re not doing this to mock, or ridicule, the Mormon people! On the contrary, we do this because our hearts are broken for their predicament. We’re convinced they love Jesus, but it’s the wrong Jesus! Mr. Jackson’s words are in black, and our response is in red.
General Conference, ‘The Culture of Christ’, October 2020
The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us that there is purpose in life. Our being here is not just some big cosmic accident or mistake! We are here for a reason.
This culture is grounded in the testimony that our Heavenly Father exists, that He is real and loves each one of us individually.
This disagrees with Doctrine and Covenants 1:30 –
“And also those to whom these commandments were given, might have power to lay the foundation of this church, and to bring it forth out of obscurity and out of darkness, the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth, with which I, the Lord, am well pleased, speaking unto the church collectively and not individually.”
We are His “work and [His] glory.” This culture espouses the concept of equal worth. There is no recognition of caste or class.
That’s what they claim today, but it’s not always been the case, their canon still espouses a racist theology, see 2 Nephi 5:21.
Furthermore, God’s work and glory is Jesus, and His work of saving people
We are, after all, brothers and sisters, spirit children of our heavenly parents—literally.
God’s word disagrees. Jesus said in John 8:23 that He’s from above, and man is from the earth, and a so-called biology doesn’t make you a believer – John 7:6. We also see Mr. Jackson’s words are a lie in John 1:13 –
“Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
There is no prejudice or “us versus them” mentality in the greatest of all cultures.
How can there be no ‘us v. them’ if they proclaim to be the ‘greatest of all cultures’, and what does 1 Nephi 14:10 mean?
“And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth.”
…We enjoy a culture of revelation, centered on the word of God as received by the prophets (and personally verifiable to each one of us through the Holy Ghost). All humankind can know the will and mind of God.
This is true only if you agree with their prophet’s revelations.
This culture champions the principle of agency. The ability to choose is extremely important for our development and our happiness. Choosing wisely is essential.
This is a red herring. God has never taken away our agency to choose. Furthermore, their idea of choosing wisely means one thing only. You must agree with their prophet. If/when you don’t, it means you’re an apostate.
It is a culture of learning and study. We seek knowledge and wisdom and the best in all things.
It is a culture of faith and obedience. Faith in Jesus Christ is the first principle of our culture, and obedience to His teachings and commandments is the outcome. These give rise to self-mastery.
And therein lies true Mormonism. Theirs is a culture of wanting knowledge for salvation, and their insatiable need for self.
…It is a culture of covenants and ordinances, high moral standards, sacrifice, forgiveness and repentance, and caring for the temple of our bodies. All of these bear witness to our commitment to God.
The culture of God’s gospel means that ordinances are done away with. Galatians 2:20-21 –
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”
It is a culture governed by the priesthood, the authority to act in God’s name, the power of God to bless His children.
The priesthood is held by One Individual – and that’s Jesus Christ –
Hebrews 7:26 “For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens”.
It edifies and enables individuals to be better people, leaders, mothers, fathers, and companions—and it sanctifies the home…” — William K. Jackson
Again, Mr. Jackson’s words are false! The entire reason Jesus was crucified was to wash us clean of sin, and then He sent His Holy Spirit to indwell believers. His Spirit continues to sanctify believers throughout their lifetime.
1 Corinthians 6:11 “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”
Please pray with us for Jesus to intervene in the lives of those who listened to this man’s lies!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
