‘Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.’ Isaiah 12:2
General Conference, ‘They Cannot Prevail; We Cannot Fail’, April 2021 “Just going to church once a week is not enough to build upon the rock. Our entire lives should be filled with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel is not part of our life, but our life is actually part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Think about it. Is that not true? Our mortal life is only part of the whole plan of salvation and exaltation.” — Chi Hong (Sam) Wong
Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Matthew 16:18 “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
The Plan of Salvation our Lord instituted didn’t include our ability to become gods. Nor did it include works. The Lord’s plan centered on one thing — His gift to us of His Son. As an FYI, the word salvation is in the Bible 158 times – 115x in the OT, and 43x in the NT. Not one of those times does it say we’ll become gods.
Our sin nature prevents us from doing anything good enough to earn salvation, hence, He sent His Jesus to do what we could not (Jude 24-25).
Stating we need works for salvation is equivalent to rejecting God’s gift of His Son.
Share the steps of how to receive salvation with a Mormon today! The Romans Road to Salvation is a great place to start and is sometimes referred to as the synopsis of the entire Bible.
Here’s the link for the Romans Road to Salvation from our site.
Mr. Wong used a lot of fluff to describe salvation which didn’t include anything our Lord has already revealed in His word.
As a side note here – a great resource we use is a book entitled ‘100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know by Heart’ by Robert J. Morgan. His book included the importance of Romans Road when sharing the gospel. You can find it online at your favorite bookstore.

[…] Conference Quotes: Salvation is Works for Exaltation […]
“Just going to church once a week is not enough to build upon the rock”.
Where have you been for the past year Mr. Wong? Churches have been closed, and depending on where you live they are now slowly opening with restrictions.
Also there are many Christians in parts of the world that can’t go to church, not because of Covid, but because it’s illegal. And there are many people who physically can’t go to church, or anywhere else for that matter. So because they believe Christ is their Lord and Savior and excepted God’s gracious gift, they are apart of the Body of Christ. There is no such thing as exaltation.
AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!!!
“There is no law that requires works. No, there is rather a law that requires faith. For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the (WORKS) of the Law. Since there is only (ONE) God, who will justify the circumcised and the uncircumcised through the same faith.(Romans 3:27-30)
“Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift (salvation), but as an obligation (law). However, to the one Who does Not Work, but Trusts God, who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the of the one of whom God credits righteousness apart from works.” (Romans 4:4-6)
Personally, I believe that the Mormon Church has always placed more emphasis on works than on faith. I believe that Joe Smith, from the very beginning, indoctrinated church members to serve him and the needs of HIS church, more than having faith in the blood and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. For Joe’s church to grow and for him (personally) to prosper, Joe Smith needed a group of people that were willing to do his bidding. Thus, the Mormon church and their doctrines (indoctrination) on tithing, temple attendance(no temple, no salvation); callings in the church (free labor) polygamy (personal lust); missionary obligation (free marketing);
i believe that Joe Smith was a bit of scoundrel. He knew how to get people to do his bidding. He used religion as a means of personal profit and as a means to uplift his station in life to that of a semi celebrity. He convinced women that it was God’s will that he be able to have sex with them. He convinced his followers that if they didn’t tithe, they couldn’t build a temple and without temples, ordinances couldn’t be performed and without those ordinances being done, salvation was not possible.
If Joe Smith was alive today, he would be a televangelist performing for millions of people, asking them to sow their faith seed and if they did, sow (mailed checks) directly to his ministry, God would reward them 10x what they sowed in faith. Televangelists and Joe Smith are very, very similar.
