Journal of Discourses 4:216 “I want to tell you, each and every one of you, that you are well acquainted with God our heavenly Father, or the great Eloheim. … there is not a soul of you but what has lived in His house and dwelt with Him year after year; and yet you are seeking to become acquainted with Him, when the fact is, you have merely forgotten what you did know. …
There is not a person here today but what is a son or a daughter of that Being. In the spirit world their spirits were first begotten and brought forth, and they lived there with their parents for ages before they came here. This, perhaps, is hard for many to believe, but it is the greatest nonsense in the world not to believe it. If you do not believe it, cease to call Him Father; and when you pray, pray to some other character.” — Brigham Young, Delivered in the Tabernacle, Great Salt Lake City, February 8, 1857.
Psalm 22:22 “I will declare thy name unto my brethren: In the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.”
Hebrews 2:10-12 “For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.”
In Mormonism everyone is referred to as brother or sister which should be a sign for members and investigators alike, there’s something off.
The practice of doing this comes from Joseph Smith. Instead of trusting fulfilled prophecies in the Bible the Church continues to teach the lies Smith introduced.
While the list of reasons why their doctrines are wrong today, we’re focusing on the effects of this false teaching.
Mormonism has placed their false god in a position so far away it makes it impossible for members to have a one-on-one relationship with him or the true God of the Bible.
Furthermore, the idea of Jesus being your elder brother takes away the position of Jesus being God incarnate. Having a personal relationship with Him is virtually non-existent. It’s not mentioned in any of their talks or monthly periodicals, nor is this truth taught in their seminaries or lesson books.
My own experience is just one example of how their lies have worked. I wrote an article on this disconnect in Jesus My Brother and Butch Cassidy. It’s a candid look at the cause and effect of what Mormonism has done.
Pray for Jesus’ intervention and for Mormons to open their hearts to the truth!
With Love in Christ —
