Conference Report, October 2011, p. 83 “We are asked to stand as a witness of Him “at all times and in all things, and in all places” (Mosiah 18:9). This means that we must be willing to let others know whom we follow and to whose Church we belong: the Church of Jesus Christ. We certainly want to do this in a spirit of love and testimony. We want to follow the Savior by simply and clearly, yet humbly, declaring that we are members of His Church. We follow Him by being Latter-day Saints–latter-day disciples.” — M. Russell Ballard
1 Corinthians 1:13 “Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?”
There are a number of issues in Mr. Ballard’s talk.
1.It’d be impossible to stand as a witness for Jesus at the time of Mosiah who supposedly lived c. BC 149-147.
2.Believers are known collectively as the body of Christ. As Paul asked ‘was Christ divided’ and of course the answer to his question is no!
3.Jesus said true believers must worship Him in spirit and in truth – John 4:24. There is a wholesale rejection of the Jesus in the Bible. Their own canon denounces the body of Christ by describing Jesus’ bride as the whore of the earth.
4.The BoM also describes Jesus as a white and delightsome man which isn’t who He was.
Finally beloved, God’s word tells us if someone says they love God and hate his brother he is a liar – 1 John 4:20. Gently show the Mormon you know how Christians behave towards each other.
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
