May 15 — LDS Contradictions Reveal the Lies They Tell. 2 Peter 2:1 “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”

The Apostle Peter’s reminder to watch out for false teachers is an apt lesson 2,000 years later. At General Conference Dallin Oaks expressly declared Mormons must reject evil choices, but two LDS prophets proclaimed just the opposite. Here’s what Joseph Fielding Smith, and Brigham Young had to say about Adam and Eve –
Doctrines of Salvation 1:112 “DEATH FOR ALL LIFE CAME BY FALL. President Brigham Young has said: “Some may regret that our first parents sinned. This is nonsense. If we had been there, and they had not sinned, we would have sinned. I will not blame Adam or Eve. Why? Because it was necessary that sin should enter into the world; no man could ever understand the principle of exaltation without its opposite…The Lord knew they would do this, and he had designed that they should…”” — Joseph Fielding Smith
Our question today is this:
Which ‘inspired’ LDS leader would you believe? These men have demonstrated that none of them can be trusted. Lovingly share with the Mormon you know why the message Mr. Oaks delivered contradicts basic Mormon theology.

General Conference, ‘The Great Plan’ April 2020 “The divine plan for us to become what we are destined to become requires us to make choices to reject the evil opposition that tempts mortals to act contrary to God’s commandments and His plan.” — Dallin Oaks

Not sure what the contradiction is since both of the statements are correct. The fall was part of God’s plan so that we could experience mortality and opposition, and while in mortality we should of course choose to reject temptations in order to become closer to God. Where is the contradiction?

where in the Bible does it say the fall was part of God’s plan? As an FYI, God abhors sin! Psalm 5:4-5; “For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. 5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.”

I believe that Genesis and the entire Bible proclaims that God has a plan for his children. Are you saying that the fall was not part of his plan, that the creator of the universe, the father of our spirits, and an all-powerful and omniscient being who has a perfect knowledge of past, present, and future did not plan and arrange the events in the garden and was caught off guard by what happened? Do you think he was surprised by Adam and Eve’s actions, that Lucifer was more intelligent and more powerful and pulled one over on him, and that he suddenly had to scramble to come up with a fix for the situation because he had no idea what would occur?
Of course not. That’s obviously not true because God knows all and doesn’t do anything randomly or without knowing what will happen. It is blasphemy to say that Lucifer somehow tricked God and altered God’s plan. Everything God does is known and infinitely planned. God knew exactly what he was doing, knew exactly what Lucifer would do, and knew exactly what Adam and Eve would do. To say that he didn’t denies that he is God.
God wants his children to become like him and return to his presence. In order to accomplish that purpose he provides us with the means to do so which includes coming to earth to receive a mortal body, experiencing good and evil, using the agency he gave us to choose between good and evil, and providing a Savior when we invariably fail to be perfect. Without the fall there would have been no mortality, no opposition, no choice, no need for a Savior, and no path for us to progress.
And to your point, of course God abhors sin. That’s exactly why Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden and were then able to repent as part of God’s plan. Adam was not deceived and chose to transgress the law which allowed him to become mortal, procreate, and experience opposition thus allowing all of us to do the same thereby fulfilling God’s plan.
Here’s a challenge, where in the Bible does it say that God is not all-powerful and all-knowing, and that everything that happens in his creations, including the fall, are not known and planned by him? Where does it say that the fall was a complete surprise and that Lucifer frustrated God’s plan by tempting Eve? Obviously those verses do not exist because it’s not true.
