October 23 – Conditional Love of LDS God. Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
_____
7th President of the Church – Heber J. Grant – Served from 1918–1945
The online version of Mr. Grant’s collection of teachings in Gospel Standards is different from the book edition. The book contains the quote listed below, but online it’s exempt. For that reason, we’ve listed the original place it was published in a conference report – see link below.
First, I’d ask a Mormon why their references aren’t the same. Secondly, I’d point out to the Mormon there’s no way they could ever be saved based on what their church is teaching.
I’d also ask how many commandments they’re required to keep. Is it all of them, some of them, or ??? The Bible says there are 613 Laws. Are Mormons keeping all 613 laws?
And finally, if you as a human would still love your child after they’ve misbehaved, don’t you suppose God would still find it in Himself to love you after you’ve sinned?

Conference Report, October 1900, p. 36 “If we keep the commandments of God He will love us, and the Savior will manifest Himself unto us. If we fail to keep the commandments of God, there is no promise made to us…It is the keeping of the commandments of God that causes men to grow and to become strong and powerful in the Church and kingdom of God.” – Heber J. Grant Also see Gospel Standards, p. 36.
