“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?” 1 Kings 8:27
ChurchNews.com “…President Nelson’s conference talk summary… It is significant that when Jesus Christ appeared to the inhabitants of the American continent,1 He chose to appear to the people at the temple. The temple is His house. It is filled with His power.2
Let us never lose sight of what the Lord is doing for us. He is making His temples more accessible. He is accelerating the pace at which we are building temples.3 He is increasing our ability to help gather Israel. He is also making it easier for each of us to become spiritually refined.4
I promise that increased time in the temple will bless your life in ways nothing else can.5 May you focus on the temple in ways you never have before.” — Russell Nelson
Today we’re looking at a talk given by Russell Nelson at the last GC. In his hurry to keep building new temples we have to ask…what will 22 more temples do for people like my mother?
For the sake of brevity we’re looking at just a portion of his talk listed above and our questions about five of the lies he told are listed below.
1.Mr. Nelson lied when he said ‘Jesus Christ appeared to the inhabitants of the American continent…’
In 2016 he stated the BoM isn’t a textbook of history. How can anyone trust what he or the BoM says if it’s not reliable?
2.Mr. Nelson said ‘The temple is His house. It is filled with His power.’
On the contrary, the New Testament is very clear when it said that God doesn’t live inside of temples.
“Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet.” Acts 7:48
3.Nelson said, ‘He is accelerating the pace at which we are building temples.’
Who’s accelerating the pace? Why would God do this when He doesn’t live in manmade temples? He won’t be there.
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by human hands.” Acts 17:24
4.Nelson also lied by stating ‘He is making it easier …to be spiritually refined.’ He does this already through those who believe.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
5.Now for the last lie. Nelson said, ‘…increased time in the temple will bless your life in ways nothing else can.’
Again, this is another contradiction. Colossians 3:2 tells us not to focus on earthly things —
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Finally beloved, His word tells us He lives inside of the believer and now speaks to us through His Son – not prophets. 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 6:19 and Hebrews 1:1-2.
With the constant push of steering attention away from Jesus be sure to share these things with the Mormon you know and ask for their opinion about it!
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
[…] 5 Lies Russell Nelson Told at Conference […]
I think Russell meant ‘Benjamins’ needed to increase their time in the temple. Curious, do they still have padlocks on the lockers in the temple? It seemed strange to me that locks were needed when people where spending time in a ‘house’ where god dwells.
I can still remember how intimidating it was for me as a young teen to make sure I had enough money for the lockers while doing baptisms for the dead. Besides being confused about the the whole ‘ceremony’ in and of itself, having to pay more money to be there served as one of the reasons I began questioning.
Matt. 21:12 “And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and over-threw the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves.
I also hear some temples have a cafe, so you can have ice cream after all your temple work.
Tylon Rankin a former Rexburg Idaho temple worker was convicted of stealing money and property out of the lockers. So much for the “spirit of discernment”, for whoever gave him his calling.
WOW, OH WOW, OH WOW!
You’re spot on with your insight!
