June 10 – Why Would Did God Foreordain the Fall? Genesis 3:1; “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made…”
_____
Remember the words of God as you read what Joseph Smith had to say about the fall of mankind. Ask a Mormon; what kind of god would do such a thing?

Encyclopedia of Joseph Smith’s Teachings, p. 54 “Atonement. [God] foreordained the fall of man; but all merciful as He is, He foreordained at the same time, a plan of redemption for all mankind. I believe in the Divinity of Jesus Christ, and that He died for the sins of all men, who in Adam had fallen.” – edited by Larry E. Dahl and Donald Q. Cannon [Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1997]
[…] Why Would God Foreordain the Fall? […]
Actually, I have the same question for Calvinists/Reformed people. They teach that God ordained everything, with at least one saying God ordained everything we say! The claim is that if God doesn’t fore-ordained things then He can’t know about them. They seem to forget that God foresees everything.
So Mormon theology departs from Reformed theology at that point, but both have the same problem about God ordaining the Fall.
