August 19 – LDS: New and Everlasting Covenant is Gateway to Exaltation. Hebrews 9:15-16 “And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.”

This is pretty simple explanation of the new and everlasting covenant. Isn’t it interesting how the Church has come up with a new definition of what the new and everlasting covenant is?
_____
“The gospel itself is the new and everlasting covenant. The posterity of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob constitute what is known as the covenant race. We come into the Church by covenant, which we enter into when we go into the waters of baptism. The new and everlasting covenant of celestial marriage is the gate to exaltation in the celestial kingdom. Men receive the Melchizedek Priesthood by an oath and covenant” (Romney 43). Eternal covenants constitute God’s approach to His children’s progress and perfection.” (Monte S. Nyman and Charles D. Tate, Jr., eds., Alma, theTestimonyoftheWord [Provo: BYU Religious Studies Center, 1992], 224 – 225.)

That poor thief on the cross next to our dear Lord died w/o baptism. Unless some nice Mormon knows his first and last name and does his ´work´ in the temple, that thief is doomed. That´s not what Jesus said to the thief, but the Mormon church seems to know more than God….all the time. How did I ever believe the lie?
You believed it just as I did but PTL so many others are getting out!
I hadn’t thought of the thief on the cross when I wrote this – good point!
I just kept thing of what my mother said at my brother’s funeral. She wasn’t temple worthy, so she asked her uncle to be sure to do the endowments a year later.
Oh, be still my heart…
Your story is sad. I buried a son 16 yrs ago. He slowly left the church and when it was final, his wife kicked him to the curb. He wasn´t strong enough to endure his loneliness and the recognition that he served a mission based on lies. God bless the work you do!
Oh Sandra! It grieves my heart to hear of your son. I’m so, so sorry for your loss. Of course, there are no words…
My brother died of AIDS in 1992 and the Church abandoned him as well. I’ll tell the rest of the story in a private note soon.
The amount of evil this church has left in its wake speaks volumes.
Amen.
