August 26 – Temple Oaths Made to Foreign Gods. Matthew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”

The oaths taken in the Masonic Lodge were the blueprint for where Smith received ‘revelation’ for the Mormon temples. They take oaths to Ba’al and the Grand Master of Masonry to bring them forth from darkness to light.

“Joseph Smith joined the Masons to promote goodwill towards his people. He was true to his Masonic pledges. But Masonry could not overcome the hatred fired by untruth, when truth raised its banner. The experiment was a failure. The formation of the Nauvoo lodge rather hindered than helped the cause of the Church.” John A. Widtsoe, Joseph Smith—Seeker after Truth, Prophet of God [Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1951], 300.

Mr. Widtsoe speaketh in circles. Please explain what he was talking about. Seems to me the church of these particular latter-days (1970, onward when I first went to the temple) never mentioned a thing about the Masons and the temple. I stumbled on the similarities when a friend in Australia whose husband was a Mason, loaned me her husbandś Masonic handbook. Wow, even the handshakes were the same. God the Almightly has created hundreds of types of monkeys, completely different from each other, but He couldn´t come up with a unique, sacred temple ordinance. He had to borrow something from the Masons?
Hi anonymous –
It’s a sad situation, isn’t it? How I pray all members of the Church would see the lies they’ve been told!
