October 26 – Joseph Smith: King David Forgiven in Hell. Ezekiel 34:23-24; “And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. 24 And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.”
Matthew 1:1; “The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.”

Oh, how this is troublesome for Mormons…
If there’s only one shepherd how does that square with Mormons becoming gods, and Smith being the reason they know about God?
Secondly, Mormons believe King David lost salvation, and any hope of recognition in heaven because he was a murderer. Lovingly share how God still loved David and will forever be a symbol of salvation.
As an FYI, sorry for the double posting of this article if you saw this on FB earlier today! It wasn’t supposed to post until the evening but WP posted it before I could retract it.

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 339; “A murderer, for instance, one that sheds innocent blood, cannot have forgiveness. David sought repentance at the hand of God carefully with tears, for the murder of Uriah; but he could only get it through hell: he got a promise that his soul should not be left in hell. Although David was a king, he never did obtain the spirit and power of Elijah and the fullness of the Priesthood; and the Priesthood that he received, and the throne and kingdom of David is to be taken from him and given to another by the name of David in the last days, raised up out of his lineage.”
