Ensign, ‘Ministering Through Self-Reliance,’ August 2020 ““Self-reliance is taking responsibility for our own spiritual and temporal welfare and for those whom Heavenly Father has entrusted to our care. Only when we are self-reliant can we truly emulate the Savior in serving and blessing others.
Elder Robert D. Hales (1932–2017) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, “A Gospel Vision of Welfare: Faith in Action,” in Basic Principles of Welfare and Self-Reliance (booklet, 2009), 1–2; emphasis added.”
James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
There were so many questions I thought of when I read the Ensign article noted above. Here’s a short list –
Isaiah 64:6 says that all our works are as filthy rags so why are leaders of the Church telling its members they must rely on themselves and not God?
“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
Emulating the Savior entails being humble. Trying to be self-sufficient is prideful and leaves no room in the heart of a true believer to be grateful for what Jesus did for us.
Jude 1:24-25 “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”
Lastly, what James said should concern every member of the Church. There are 613 laws/commandments in the Old Testament. If you’re LDS how are you doing with keeping each and every one of them?
What about all of the LDS commandments? Do you have a list of what they are and do you keep all of them?
Living under the Law isn’t freedom my friend. The entire reason God sent His Son Jesus is to fulfill the Law and set captives free!
If you’re LDS we pray you compare what the Lord has said in His word to what your leaders are teaching.
If you’re a Christian, please share this info with a Mormon today!
