February 2 – LDS: Jesus Persecuted and Crucified for Polygamy. In Colossians 1:15 we learn a lot about the nature and character of Jesus. “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creation.” There are truly no other words which could exemplify how beautiful He really is.
_____
The LDS Church has taught its members Jesus was probably crucified for practicing polygamy.
They believe some of His wives were Mary, Martha and the other Mary. It’s difficult as a Christian to even ponder the notion He was part of such a deed.
_____
“The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age. A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers. We might almost think they were ‘Mormons’’ (Jedediah Grant, Journal of Discourses 1:346)”. […] LDS: Jesus Persecuted, Crucified for Polygamy […]
Since God established one-man/one-woman marriage, and sinners invented polygamy, why would the culture execute a man for what culture had no problem with? And why is there no mention of this in the Bible? Who were the “philosophers who rose in that age.”– cite them, please!
This claim is utter nonsense.
Unfortunately, you’re going to be waiting a long time for the Church to answer that…
