August 28 — Don’t Leave Because of Facts. Ensign, Nov. 2009, 37 “Some are willing to set aside the precious gospel truths restored by Joseph Smith because they get diverted on some historical issue or some scientific hypothesis not central to their exaltation, and in so doing they trade their spiritual birthright for a mess of pottage. They exchange the absolute certainty of the Restoration for a doubt, and in that process they fall into the trap of losing faith in the many things they do know because of a few things they do not know.” – Tad R. Callister

Acts 17:10-11 “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
Romans 1:20-23 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.”

Yesterday we looked at part of a talk given by Tad Callister where he claimed Joe Smith found the truth in a grove of trees in upstate New York. Today we’re looking at another vital part of this talk worthy of attention. While this guy seems to be just another face in the crowd, his words are a scary reminder of how dangerous these people are to everyone.
First of all, truth should never deter anyone from following God, neither should denouncing a manmade religion built upon the precepts of a man.
Telling people they’d settle for a serving of pottage is nothing but scare tactics to keep you in their web of lies. There’s never been a time when God would punish you for investigating who He is in the Bible – never.
There’s also never been anything but blessings poured out onto people when they seek to know and worship Him! John 8:32 tells us the truth shall set you free! What is harmful when you’re free?
This man’s talk was trying to take attention away from the cold hard facts. He doesn’t want members to look at historical evidence proving Smith was a conman. Smith, Callister and other leaders of LDS.inc would rather lead people away from the Lord, not to Him.
Remind the Mormon you know that God encourages investigating His word!

So members aren’t aloud to question the church, but Isn’t that what the “first vision” is all about? JS going to the “scared grove” because he was having doubts about which church to join???
So James 1:5 only applies if they get a feeling the church is true?
Feelings are subjective and we shouldn’t rely on feelings alone. That’s not a smart way to go through life.

Oh, how I pray they’d question things like this and allow their thinking caps to do what God intended them to do!
Pray, pray, pray, pray, pray!
