September 9 — Jesus a Polygamist and Founder of Christianity. The Seer, p. 172 “…the great Messiah who was the founder of the Christian religion, was a polygamist…marrying many honorable wives himself…God the Father had a plurality of wives…the Son followed the example of his Father…both God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ inherit their wives in eternity as well as in time.” – Orson Pratt, 1857

Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”

1. Where in the Bible does it ever say that God or Jesus were polygamists?
2. Where in the Bible does it say that God was once a man?
3. Where in the Bible does it say that polygamous marriages are mandatory to achieve salvation?
4. If God was literally the father of all of us and came down to impregnate Mary wouldn’t that qualify as incest? (Doctrines of Salvation 1:63)
5. If that ‘great Messiah’ was the founder of the Christian religion then it contradicts what we’ve read in Helaman 11:21. That verse tells us they were practicing Christianity in a church c. BC 12 which is long before Jesus was even born.
6. Exactly who were these honorable wives that Jesus married?
These are just a handful of questions I have about Mr. Pratt’s insight. Although The Seer was written 167 years ago LDS doctrines are still the same. The BoM hasn’t changed and if LDS men get remarried they can claim all their wives in heaven.
Joe Smith’s prophecies in D&C are still valid and according to what Joseph Fielding Smith said in Doctrines of Salvation Jesus would have to be a polygamist if he were to achieve true salvation.
Ask the Mormon you know what they think about any or all of the questions we asked.

I’m still waiting for evidence that Jesus was married, let alone a polygamist. They just make things up as history goes by. I think this teaching originated with Smith’s multiple adulteries, and so he said God gave him the commands about polygamy and they have to support the commands by claiming it’s okay because Jesus was a polygamist. Oh what tangled webs we weave…
I totally agree with your analysis in that! He was looking for something to take attention away from his evil behavior!!
