April 24 — Pope Francis’ Death. We’re praying for those affected by the death of the Pope on April 21, 2025. I checked out two news sites (CNN and NY Times) to see what they had to say.
The NY Times provided several comments by random Catholics and two of them stood out.
One woman said he made her ‘feel Christian again’ while another said, ‘we’re all a bit lonelier…the world is torn apart’.
These comments are indicative of people not walking with the Lord and it may seem there’s not much that can be said.
However insurmountable it may seem the one thing we can do is pray for Catholics to get saved just like we do for Mormons. I’m a good example of how prayers work and so are many ex-Catholics who are now Christians!
In addition to the sites listed the LDS Church issued a statement as well. Here’s what they said –

“We join the world in mourning the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis. His courageous and compassionate leadership has blessed countless lives. As the world pauses to remember his example of forgiveness and service, we feel deep gratitude for the goodness of a life well lived and rejoice in the hope of a glorious resurrection made possible through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.”
As we stated when the last pope died in 2013 we find it ironic the LDS Church would say anything nice about their archrival. The Church has prided itself on Joe Smith’s claim that Catholics are the ‘whore of the earth’.
1 Nephi 14:10 “And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth.”
It’s unlikely the world including the LDS Church is mourning over the death of the pope. I feel bad that someone died, however, this man was the leader of an establishment that leads people away from the Lord, not to Him!
Please pray for Catholics to turn to the Lord and turn away from sinful men who have nothing to offer but a false hope of salvation!

Know that we’ll be praying for your family and your niece who is now Mormon. It’s hard knowing they aren’t turning to the Lord.
One thing is certain – you and I along with many others who’ve come out of cults know the truth.
He’s told us His word doesn’t come back void (Is 55:11) so take solace in knowing you’re sharing the truth!
