June 18 — Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 28 “…Notwithstanding my weaknesses, I am under the necessity of bearing the infirmities of others, who when they get into difficulty, hang on to me tenaciously to get them out, and wish me to cover their faults. (HC 5:516.)”

Isaiah 53:4 “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.”
1 Peter 2:24 “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

On a side note, before we begin…
Isaiah chapter 53 is one of my all-time favorite passages in God’s word. Forty-eight
prophecies were fulfilled in just twelve verses and it’s arguably one of the most holy things ever written.
Today we’re looking at just one example of Joe Smith’s tall tales. It’s hard to believe that anyone would think up the things this man did. It’s obvious he knew certain biblical phrases and had no problem using them to suit his own purpose.
The other issue with Mr. Smith was his ego. Leaders of the Church have exalted this man then and now. See article Joseph Smith Descriptions with 77 quotes. Smith and company said many things, but the bottom line is that no one redeems us but Jesus!
Please pray that all Mormons will leave the Church and come to a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus and Him crucified!
With Love in Christ –
