July 1 – 1 Timothy 6:3-4; “If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmising”.

Awhile ago I discovered a telling reference in the book, ‘Mormons, How to Witness to Them’ by John R. Farkas and David A. Reed. Their work is a great reminder of how wrong Mormonism is, and how the Church goes out of its way to deceive.

The subject we’re looking at today is how Joseph Smith defined the phrase, ‘The First Principles of the Gospel’. The following is a quote from their book followed by the info in their investigation.

“There are many countries in the world where the Mormon missionaries are present on a full-time basis, and two of the LDS scripture (Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price) are not available in the language of those countries. [9] Perhaps this is intentional, in harmony with the directions given by Joseph Smith in June 1837”

Swearing Allegiance to False Memories

allen-haynie-first-quorum-seventyGeneral Conference, ‘Remembering in Whom We Have Trusted,’ October 2015; “Before we came to this earth, we participated as spirit sons and daughters of God in a grand council.2 Each of us was paying attention, and none of us fell asleep. In that council our Father in Heaven presented a plan. Because the plan preserved our agency and required that we learn from our own experience and not just from His, He knew we would commit sin. He also knew that sin would cause us to become unclean and unable to return to His presence…

Mormon Decisions 10I discovered the following 6 point list of identifying false prophets on the web archived site for Biblical Discernment Ministries I  wanted to share it here because the points they made are great!

The only thing I’d add to their list is those who deny the cross.  I know, I know, I seem to hound on that subject matter! I still can’t get over how obvious this is though!

salt lake mormon temple 2Journal of Discourses 2:106; “Jesus says, “Except ye are one, ye are not mine.” And yet the Christian world take a course to justify themselves in division, in strife, in animosity, in quarreling, in envy, in jealousy, in war and bloodshed. And yet they say they are one: I say THEY LIE. A man that says it, lies to me, and he lies to God. I say this to all the world, and to those who are passing through the city as emigrants; if you profess to be disciples of Christ, and have hatred to us in your hearts, I say you lie; in the name of the Lord God Almighty I say it. Do you not think He will sustain me in it? Yes, and all His faithful followers will too; and those who desire to be the disciples of Christ and to be one, will gather together.” – Heber C. Kimball, Salt Lake City, August 13, 1853

Hell isn’t Always Eternal

Encyclopedia of Mormonism, pg 586; “A third meaning of “hell” (second spiritual death) refers to the realm of the devil and his angels, including those known as sons of perdition (2 Pet. 2:4; D&C 29:38; 88:113; Rev. 20:14). It is a place for those who cannot be cleansed by the Atonement because they committed the unforgivable and unpardonable sin (1 Ne. 15:35; D&C 76:30-49). Only this hell continues to operate after the Resurrection and Judgment.”

Question

Why are the Lamanites dark and cursed because of their ancestors sins when the 2nd Article of Faith clearly states that men will be punished for their own sins and not for Adam’s or their fathers’ sins?

Polygamy and Mormon Church Leaders

Wilford Woodruff 1807-1898

Journal of Discourses 13:166; “If we were to do away with polygamy, it would only be one feather in the bird, one ordinance in the Church and kingdom. Do away with that, then we must do away with prophets and Apostles, with revelation and the gifts and graces of the Gospel, and finally give up our religion altogether and turn sectarians and do as the world does, then all would be right. We just can’t do that, for God has commanded us to build up His kingdom and to bear our testimony to the nations of the earth, and we are going to do it, come life or come death.” – Wilford Woodruff, Salt Lake City, December 12, 1869
