Journal of Discourses 2:106; “Jesus says, “Except ye are one, ye are not mine.” And yet the Christian world take a course to justify themselves in division, in strife, in animosity, in quarreling, in envy, in jealousy, in war and bloodshed. And yet they say they are one: I say THEY LIE. A man that says it, lies to me, and he lies to God. I say this to all the world, and to those who are passing through the city as emigrants; if you profess to be disciples of Christ, and have hatred to us in your hearts, I say you lie; in the name of the Lord God Almighty I say it. Do you not think He will sustain me in it? Yes, and all His faithful followers will too; and those who desire to be the disciples of Christ and to be one, will gather together.” – Heber C. Kimball, Salt Lake City, August 13, 1853
John 17:4, 21-22; “I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one.”
Now here we have Jesus Himself praying to the Father on our behalf.
What part of this prayer would the Father not honor?
What part of this request wouldn’t be fulfilled?
Do you believe that God didn’t hear His Son’s prayer? If not, why not?
What power wouldn’t God have if Kimball’s statement was true? Is this the type of god you worship?
Jesus promised the gates of hell wouldn’t prevail against the church and for that to happen it’d have to mean the body of Christ stands as one.
The only way for that to take place is through the inner workings of the Holy Spirit that resides inside each and every believer!
This is the power! The power doesn’t come through a set of mandates written by fallible humans. It comes from the omnipotent, everlasting God of the Bible!!
