July 20 – Luke 9:60 “Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.”

The Bible verse today is what I’d share with every Mormon when talking about baptisms for the dead.
Jesus wanted the man’s total devotion, but the man in this story couldn’t let go of the traditions to bury the father just in case he’d miss out on an inheritance.

“Spiritual Whirlwinds” “Find your grandfathers and grandmothers and your distant cousins who have gone before you. Take their names to the temple with you. As you learn about your ancestors, you will see patterns of life, of marriage, of children; patterns of righteousness; and occasionally patterns that you will want to avoid.” — Neil L. Andersen

Ask the Mormon you know what inheritance is more important than what Jesus has to offer.
If it’s not Him ask why and share what God’s word says in Psalm 73:25 —
“Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.”

So the LDS church has an issue with the Catholic church baptizing babies, because they aren’t old enough to understand. But it’s ok to baptize dead people by proxy.
I personally don’t agree with infant baptism either. But, how do dead people understand?
Jesus is my proxy ❤️

Great question!! The bible says the dead know nothing –
Ecc. 9:5.
