December 9 — Achieving a Celestial Marriage, p. 136 “It is for the exaltation of man to this state of superior intelligence and Godhood that the mediation and atonement of Jesus Christ is instituted; and that noble being, man, made in the image of God, is rendered capable not only of being a son of man, but also a son of God. . . and is rendered capable of becoming a God, possessing the power, the majesty, the exaltation and the position of a God. . . (John Taylor, Gospel Kingdom, p. 57).”

Isaiah 40:25 “To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.”

Isaiah 40:13-14 “Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? 14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?”

Chapters 40-45 of Isaiah is where God comforts His people while reminding them who He is. For me they are my go-to passages showing members of the Church they can’t take God’s place.
In a loving manner share these chapters with a Mormon to remind them who He is and what they can never be.
Lastly, this LDS passage had nothing to do with the Lord sacrificing Himself on the cross so we could have eternal life.
