February 24 — Gospel Standards, p. 22 “THE MISSION OF JESUS CHRIST. We are not dependent upon the testimony of men who lived many hundreds of years ago. We have the testimony that is given to us from the Prophet Joseph Smith, and from Sidney Rigdon that they saw the Son, that they heard the voice declare from the heavens that He was the Only Begotten of the Father, that by Him and of Him the worlds were created, and that He lives, for they saw Him.” — Heber J. Grant, 1941, 7th LDS Prophet.

Romans 4:18, 23-24 “Who in hope believed against hope, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, So shall thy seed be. 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was reckoned unto him. 24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead”.

Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us”.

Today our questions are as follows –
1.Why wouldn’t you want to rely on the testimonies of those in the Bible? What’s to be afraid of?
2.Who besides Smith and Rigdon saw the Lord?
3.Where were Smith and Rigdon on the day they supposedly saw Jesus? Where’s the proof they saw the Lord?
4.What purpose does it serve to discredit the Bible?
5.When this happened wouldn’t it mean it’d be the 2nd Coming? Revelation 1:7 states that everyone will see Him!
“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”
6.How does their so-called experience glorify the Lord and why doesn’t the Church talk more about this event?
7.Why didn’t these men think about what Joe Smith wrote in the BoM that liars are thrust down to hell?
“Wo unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell.” 2 Nephi 9:34
Pray for Mormons to think these things through and for Jesus to intervene!
