“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” — Ephesians 2:8-9
February 6 — Doctrines of Salvation 2:37 “Now if we want to become heirs, joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, possessing the blessings of the kingdom, there is only one thing required of you and of me, and that is that we keep the whole law, not a part of it only.” — Joseph Fielding Smith, 10th LDS Prophet

Galatians 2:16 “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”

Galatians 3:24 “But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.”

It’s absolutely impossible to live up to the standards Mr. Smith told LDS members they must do. It’s been said there are 613 Laws in the OT so we can’t help but wonder if they’re fulfilling all those laws. You can read a great explanation of law v. grace on GotQuestions.org. In part here’s what they said —
“God gave the Law to define sin and demonstrate our need for a Savior. Jesus is the only one who has perfectly obeyed the Law. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He fulfilled all of God’s righteous commands (Matthew 5:17–18).”

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

We pray that Mormons see the futility of Mr. Smith’s false teaching and know they can find rest through Jesus who did all the works for us!
With Love in Christ —
