January 3 — Just a quick thank you to everyone who prayed for us while our unexpected guests showed up!
Kirk and I were able to share many things with the two young men.
Here’s a synopsis of what we talked about —
Jesus is God incarnate — John 1:1, 14
If they died today would they go to heaven. Basically, do they have an assurance of their salvation. 2 Timothy 1:12
They must do works for salvation – Eph. 2:8-9
Joseph Smith had a habit of declaring false prophecies – polygamy — Leviticus 18:18, Deut. 17:17
Salvation requires baptisms for dead which is necromancy in temples — 1 Cor. 15:29, Acts 17:24
There are no forever families which means no marriages in heaven — Luke 16:19-31, Mark 12:25, 27
When we told them there were no marriages in heaven and Jesus said we’re like angels they tried to tell us that this is what D&C 132 is about.
I replied by stating that was about polygamy and Joseph Smith told Emma that if she didn’t comply God would condemn her to hell. D&C 132:4-6
I asked if they felt that the HS is everywhere and God’s Holy Spirit lives inside believers – 1 Cor. 3:16, 6:19.
When they said they believe that we told them that Joseph Smith said that the idea the HS lived inside hearts is an ‘old sectarian notion’ and is false. They didn’t believe he said such a thing, so we told them about D&C 130:3. They were very surprised.
No preexistence – 1 Cor. 15:44-47, John 3:13
There’s only One God – Isaiah 43:10-11
Please continue to pray for these two and use their alone time to pray about what we said!
