August 3 – Inspired plagiarism? Acts 3:22-23;  ‘For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.’

apocrypha & bomIn our continuing quest of studying the pseudo coincidences in the Book of Mormon you can find a familiar story of when Nephi beheaded Laban. In this “coincidence” the cast of characters are a bit different. This time the names are Judith and Holofernes whose story takes place in Israel and recorded in the book of Judith in the Apocrypha.

While the Apocrypha and the Book of Mormon both contain a variety of similar names such as Lehi, Nephi and Laban, we’re confining our study to the stories of Judith and Nephi.  Surprisingly, both the hero in the Book of Mormon and the heroine in the Apocrypha decapitated unsuspecting men who were passed out after a night of drinking.

Thought of the Day about Mormonism and People in America circa BC 545

2 Nephi 26:33; “…he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.”

Were there any slaves, heathens, and white or black people in the Americas in 545 BC? If not then why is this verse in the Book of Mormon?

And why is this in the Book of Mormon anyway?

They’ve plagiarized the Apostle Paul 600 years before he even said a very similar thing in Galatians 3:28!
