Romans 2:9-11; “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Improvement Era 15:483-485 (April, 1912). Messages of the First Presidency, 4:269-271; “…the sole object of worship, God the Eternal Father, stands supreme and alone, and it is in the name of the Only Begotten that we thus approach Him, as Christ taught always. ” – JOSEPH F. SMITH, ANTHON H. LUND, CHARLES W. PENROSE, First Presidency, “Only One God to Worship” http://emp.byui.edu/SATTERFIELDB/PDF/Only%20One%20God%20JFS.pdf
Why would they not worship Jesus if their church is named after him?
Are they the Church of Jesus Christ or the Church of Latte-day Saints?
If Jesus is the head of the Church why can’t the Mormon people worship him? Bruce McConkie in his infamous speech of 1982, told the audience it was a sin to believe you can have a personal relationship with Jesus or think you have some sort of friendship with him.
Is the god you worship so far removed that you can’t go to him directly? Notice the vocabulary employed when giving insights of who they worship. They say God the Father stands supreme and it’s through Jesus they can approach God.
According to the Bible in the gospel of John it says the temple veil was torn in two at Jesus’ death, granting us direct access to God.
Implementing filler words of worshipping God through Jesus is nothing more than a decoy to take attention away from their truth. They’re hiding what you should really know. You can’t worship Jesus and you can’t have direct access to God.
While it’s indeed true we wouldn’t have direct access to God without Jesus’ sacrifice, they’ve once again skirted the issue and in other teachings of the Church have contradicted themselves.
Journal of Discourses 8:339; “But the greatest and most important of all requirements of our Father in heaven and of his Son Jesus Christ, is, to his brethren or disciples, to believe in Jesus Christ, confess him, seek to him, cling to him, make friends with him.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, January 20, 1861
Mormon Doctrine, pg 848; “The Father and the Son are the objects of all true worship.”Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” (Matt. 4:10; Luke 4:8; Ex. 34:14; Mosiah 18:25; D. & C. 20:17-19.) No one can worship the Father without also worshiping the Son. “All men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” (John 5:23.) It is proper to worship the Father, in the name of the Son, and also to worship the Son. “– Bruce McConkie
Also note D&C 20:28; “Which Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one God, infinite and eternal, without end. Amen.” So – if they’re the same God who are you worshipping and why would the statement made in the Improvement Era say that God is supreme?
