Church Stands or Falls with Joseph Smith
From the Doctrines of Salvation, 1:188 it says; “Mormonism, as it is called, must stand or fall on the story of Joseph Smith. He was either a prophet of God, divinely called, properly appointed and commissioned, or he was one of the biggest frauds this world has ever seen. There is no middle ground.” – 10th Prophet LDS Church, Joseph Fielding Smith
Galatians 1:6-9; “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
Last week we saw that without the Book of Mormon there’d be no Mormonism. This week we see that Mormonism stands or falls on the story of Joseph Smith.
Mormonism sure has a lot of “ifs” associated with it. If there was no Book of Mormon….if Smith’s story isn’t reliable there’d be no Mormonism…
It seems there are always conditions and nowhere in having a relationship with Jesus do we find such a thing. Christianity isn’t a religion, but a relationship you have with the Only Begotten Son of God, Christ Jesus. There’s nothing else in this world that compares to Christianity.
With Mormonism you have to believe Joseph, you have to believe the Book of Mormon, you have to believe modern prophets, you have to work for your salvation, you must attend temple…it just never ends!
Romans 10:9; “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
