Denouncing Past Prophets
Church News, October 9, 1976; “Spencer W. Kimball stated: “We warn you against the dissemination of doctrines which are not according to the scriptures and which are alleged to have been taught by some of the General Authorities of past generations. Such, for instance, is the Adam-God theory. We denounce that theory and hope that everyone will be cautioned against this and other kinds of false doctrine”.”
Matthew 7:15-17; “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.”
If you went to a car dealership and they warned you not to buy any of their vehicles made before the current year, would you buy what they were offering you? What would you do?
Jesus gives us a fail proof system of checks and balances. A corrupt tree brings forth evil. If so-called inspired and prophetic words from a new god are considered corrupt what are the chances their new fangled teachings are legit?
