False Promises of Hope
The Miracle of Forgiveness, pg 164-165, 354-355; “…living all the commandments guarantees total forgiveness of sins and assures one of exaltation…trying is not sufficient. Nor is repentence when one merely tries to abandon sin”.
Romans 16:17-18; “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”
Mercy divorced from judgment is evil and hope shouldn’t be held onto when perfection is required.
If we aren’t looking to Him who will save us from ourselves we’re doomed because there’ll never be enough time to work on bettering ourselves. The false prophet Spencer Kimball was right about one thing in his blasphemous book.
Merely trying to be good or trying to be repentant isn’t enough. We’re born with a sin nature and incapable of being good on our own. We need Jesus’ blood to wipe out our sin so we can find exemption for the judgment we deserve. And then we need the Holy Spirit to regenerate and renew our way of thinking. Without His supernatural power we won’t be forgiven. But glory to God that He did for us what we can’t do for ourselves! Thank You Jesus!
