Forgiveness, None for the Adulteress

Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 164 “In my years since then I have repeatedly heard people praise the Lord for his mercy in having forgiven the adulteress. This example has been used numerous times to show how easily one can be forgiven for gross sin. But did the Lord forgive the woman? Could he forgive her? There seems to be no evidence of forgiveness. His command to her was, “Go, and sin no more.” He was directing the sinful woman to go her way, abandon her evil life, commit no more sin, transform her life.” – Spencer W. Kimball

October 24 –– Jesus, not Joseph, is God’s Tender Shoot. Ezekiel 17:22-24; “Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent: 23 In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. 24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.”

Luke 3:23-31; “And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli, 24 Which was the son of Matthat, which was the son of Levi, which was the son of Melchi, which was the son of Janna, which was the son of Joseph …31 Which was the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha, which was the son of Nathan, which was the son of David”. The Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 101 “One of the most fallacious doctrines originated by Satan and propounded by man is that man is saved alone by the grace of God; that belief in Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation. Along with all the other works necessary for man’s exaltation in the kingdom of God this could rule out the need for repentance. It could give license for sin and, since it does not require man to work out his salvation, could accept instead lip service, death-bed “repentance,” and shallow, meaningless confession of sin.” – Spencer W. Kimball, 1969 (more…)

Hebrews 4:16; “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

In Spencer W. Kimball’s 1969 publication titled ‘The Miracle of Forgiveness’, he ranked Miracle of Forgivenesssexual sin as ‘one of the most diabolical crimes’ known to mankind.

Digging himself deeper into the cesspool of lies, he also pleaded with the younger generations to protect their chastity, stating it was more important than life. We’ve listed a few of the most outrageous quotes from his book to determine if they’re theologically sound. Check it out!

The Miracle of Forgiveness [Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1969], p. 61-64; Next to Murder in Seriousness … The enormity of this sin is underlined by numerous scriptures, and particularly by Alma’s words to his immoral son:

Know ye not, my son, that these things are an abomination in the sight of the Lord; yea, most abominable above all sins save it be the shedding of innocent blood or denying the Holy Ghost? (Al. 39:5.) … David O. McKay has pleaded:

“… Your virtue is worth more than your life. Please, young folk, preserve your virtue even if you lose your lives.Nearly always those who lose their chastity first partake of those things that excite passions within them or lower their resistance and becloud their minds. … those things which, if indulged in, are worse than death itself. There is no true Latter-day Saint who would not rather bury a son or a daughter than to have him or her lose his or her chastity-realizing that chastity is of more value than anything else in all the world.” – Spencer W. Kimball

False Promises of Hope

Mormon Decisions 10The Miracle of Forgiveness, pg 164-165, 354-355; “…living all the commandments guarantees total forgiveness of sins and assures one of exaltation…trying is not sufficient. Nor is repentence when one merely tries to abandon sin”.

Romans 16:17-18; “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”

In Mormonism, God does not forgive three sins.  They are blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, apostasy and murder.  With this in mind, isn’t it odd that God would choose Paul of all people to preach the gospel when he participated in Stephen’s martyrdom and then there’s David…

_____

“A murderer, for instance, one that sheds innocent blood, cannot have forgiveness.  David sought repentance at the hand of God carefully with tears, for the murder of Uriah; but he could only get it through hell…Although David was a king, he never did obtain the spirit and power of Elijah and the fullness of the Priesthood…the throne and kingdom of David is to be taken from him and given to another by the name of David in the last days…”  Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 339.

December 31 – Jude 1:24-25; “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”

He alone is the One who saves; He alone is the Only Begotten Son.  To Him is all the glory!  My prayer is for the Mormon to know how precious this passage is to me and all of us who call Him Lord and God.  There’s not one Mormon who believes in the Trinity so ask them what they think about the opening page of the Book of Mormon.  Then think about this for a moment and ask yourself; haven’t we all been the woman in John chapter eight; and being so, where would we be if the Mormon Church was right?

“…the woman thrown at the feet of the Redeemer for judgment…But did the Lord forgive the woman? Could he forgive her? There seems to be no evidence of forgiveness. His command to her was, “Go, and sin no more.” He was directing the sinful woman to go her way, abandon her evil life, commit no more sin, transform her life. He was saying, Go, woman, and start your repentance; and he was indicating to her the beginning step-to abandon her transgressions….The Lord’s prophet Amulek had said emphatically: “. . . Ye cannot be saved in your sins.” (Al. 11:37. Italics added.) It was this same Lord Jesus Christ who made the laws, and he must observe them. Accordingly, how could he have forgiven the woman in her deep sin? When she had had time to repent; when she had abandoned her evil ways and evil associates; when she had made restitution so far as she could; and when she had proved by her works and the living of the commandments that she was “born again” and was a new creature-when she had done these things the forgiveness of the Savior could overshadow her and claim her and give her peace.”  Spencer W. Kimball, The Miracle of Forgiveness, pg. 165.

December 23 – 1 John 2:1; “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”

_____

Our advocate is forever with us; He promised to never abandon us in John 14:23 so we take that promise for ourselves and hold it dear to our hearts.  There is absolutely nothing we could ever do to establish our own righteousness.  Nothing.

The Greek work for advocate is parakleôtos.  Para in the Greek means to come alongside, the whole word means intercessor, or consoler.  He’s not going to keep reminding us of our old sin that we’ve already repented of!  Jeremiah 31:31-34 tells us that He will remember it no more.

The “authorities” in the LDS Church are laying an undue guilt trip upon its people.

_____

““And again, “. . . Unto that soul who sinneth shall the former sins return, saith the Lord your God.” (D&C 82:7.)  Would this mean that the person who has returned to the sins he has professedly abandoned must start the process of repentance again from the beginning? that one cannot return to sin and then start repentance from where he left off?

To return to sin is most destructive to the morale of the individual and gives Satan another hand-hold on his victim. Those who feel that they can sin and be forgiven and then return to sin and be forgiven again and again must straighten out their thinking. Each previously forgiven sin is added to the new one and the whole gets to be a heavy load.”  Spencer W. Kimball, The Miracle of Forgiveness, pg. 170.

Doctrine and Covenants 82:7; “And now, verily I say unto you, I, the Lord, will not lay any sin to your charge; go your ways and sin no more; but unto that soul who sinneth shall the former sins return, saith the Lord your God.”
