‘The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.’ John 1:29

March 5 — Keeping Commandments Brings Forgiveness. The Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 201 “Keeping God’s Commandments Brings Forgiveness…In his preface to modern revelation, the Lord outlined what is one of the most difficult requirements in true repentance. For some it is the hardest part of repentance, because it puts one on guard for the remainder of his life. The Lord says:—I the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance; Nevertheless, he that repents and does the commandments of the Lord shall be forgiven. (D&C 1:31-32.)” — Spencer Kimball, 1969. [emp. added] (more…)

Ezekiel 17:22-24; “Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent: 23 In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. 24 And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it.”

Forgiveness, None for the Adulteress

Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 164 “In my years since then I have repeatedly heard people praise the Lord for his mercy in having forgiven the adulteress. This example has been used numerous times to show how easily one can be forgiven for gross sin. But did the Lord forgive the woman? Could he forgive her? There seems to be no evidence of forgiveness. His command to her was, “Go, and sin no more.” He was directing the sinful woman to go her way, abandon her evil life, commit no more sin, transform her life.” – Spencer W. Kimball

The Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 101 “One of the most fallacious doctrines originated by Satan and propounded by man is that man is saved alone by the grace of God; that belief in Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation. Along with all the other works necessary for man’s exaltation in the kingdom of God this could rule out the need for repentance. It could give license for sin and, since it does not require man to work out his salvation, could accept instead lip service, death-bed “repentance,” and shallow, meaningless confession of sin.” – Spencer W. Kimball, 1969 (more…)

Hebrews 4:16; “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

In Spencer W. Kimball’s 1969 publication titled ‘The Miracle of Forgiveness’, he ranked Miracle of Forgivenesssexual sin as ‘one of the most diabolical crimes’ known to mankind.

Digging himself deeper into the cesspool of lies, he also pleaded with the younger generations to protect their chastity, stating it was more important than life. We’ve listed a few of the most outrageous quotes from his book to determine if they’re theologically sound. Check it out!

The Miracle of Forgiveness [Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1969], p. 61-64; Next to Murder in Seriousness … The enormity of this sin is underlined by numerous scriptures, and particularly by Alma’s words to his immoral son:

Know ye not, my son, that these things are an abomination in the sight of the Lord; yea, most abominable above all sins save it be the shedding of innocent blood or denying the Holy Ghost? (Al. 39:5.) … David O. McKay has pleaded:

“… Your virtue is worth more than your life. Please, young folk, preserve your virtue even if you lose your lives.Nearly always those who lose their chastity first partake of those things that excite passions within them or lower their resistance and becloud their minds. … those things which, if indulged in, are worse than death itself. There is no true Latter-day Saint who would not rather bury a son or a daughter than to have him or her lose his or her chastity-realizing that chastity is of more value than anything else in all the world.” – Spencer W. Kimball
