Miracle of Forgiveness, p 206; “One of the most fallacious doctrines originated by Satan and propounded by man is that man is saved alone by the grace of God; that belief in Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation. Along with all the other works necessary for man’s exaltation in the kingdom of God this could rule out the need for repentance. It could give license for sin and, since it does not require man to work out his salvation, could accept instead lip service, death-bed “repentance,” and shallow, meaningless confession of sin.” – Spencer W. Kimball
Galatians 2:20-21; “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”
No Mr. Kimball, one of the most fallacious lies of Satan is to believe we’re not saved by grace.
If we aren’t saved by grace we won’t be saved at all. Grace came down in the form of blood dripping from the Cross at Calvary. The blood spent was from God’s Son, the perfect Lamb. No amount of works or wanting to be saved by our works is sufficient.
I’m confused – I just had an LDS apologist a couple of months ago say this is the very thing they believe in! She or he must not be familiar with these teachings…
Oh, don’t be fooled my friend! I’ve always said that this particular book of Mr. Kimball’s is one of the most evil things written by mankind.
Whoever it was you spoke to wasn’t being forthright about this subject. Even their own beloved Book of Mormon confers on the teachings in Miracle of Forgiveness –
2 Nephi 25:23; “For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.”
🙁 This is wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong!!!!
