Journal of Discourses 11:221; “Joseph Smith told others; he told me, and I can bear witness of it, “that if this principle was not introduced, this Church and kingdom could not proceed.”” – John Taylor, Salt Lake City, April 7, 1866
Hebrews 1:10-12; “And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: 11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; 12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.”
So the things we see and do here will all pass away, but the one thing that doesn’t is our dear Lord. Upon His principles we live, obey and follow. This is the one sure thing in life that doesn’t change just because your neighbor doesn’t obey. The Lord and His covenants aren’t dependent upon man and exist independently of what He’s created.
The words of John Taylor were false all the way around. The Church is still putzin’ along without polygamy and the Kingdom of God doesn’t operate on manmade rules.
Why would God be dependent upon man’s willingness to practice polygamy? What does this have to do with the holy, righteous God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob? Where in the heavens is it written?
