David Went to Hell & Lost His Kingdom
Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 339; “A murderer, for instance, one that sheds innocent blood, cannot have forgiveness. David sought repentance at the hand of God carefully with tears, for the murder of Uriah; but he could only get it through hell: he got a promise that his soul should not be left in hell. Although David was a king, he never did obtain the spirit and power of Elijah and the fullness of the Priesthood; and the Priesthood that he received, and the throne and kingdom of David is to be taken from him and given to another by the name of David in the last days, raised up out of his lineage.”
2 Samuel 12:13; “And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.”
Ah, forgiveness…how sweet the sound! If David who was a man after God’s own heart would be cast to hell then what chance have any of us?
This teaching of Smith’s is another scare tactic and has no place with those who believe in the One True God who saves and delivers.
