And It Came to Pass
1 Nephi 1:4; “For it came to pass in the commencement of the first year of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah…”
JST Genesis 1:1; “And it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, I reveal unto you concerning this heaven and this earth; write the words which I speak.”
Genesis 4:3; “And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.”
If the Bible was so corrupt why didn’t Smith remove the passages that said “and it came to pass”?
Instead of removing this phrase Smith used it in 20% of the Book of Mormon in addition to using it in the very first verse of his rewrite of the Bible. How is this inspired?
You can read our article on the Book of Mormon and Smith’s use of this phrase here. We found this phrase showed up more than 1,400 times which meant that it was in over 20% of the verses. Is this reasonable and does it sound like something the perfect God of heaven would author?
Joseph Smith claimed more than fifteen people authored the Book of Mormon. The problem is how these people all seem to have the same writing style over a 1,000 year period of time. In the Bible the writings of Moses, Isaiah, Peter, Paul, Matthew, and Jeremiah, et al, are all very distinctive.
We find the vocabulary used by each author was appropriate for the time period they lived in and not once do we ever find one of the authors plagiarizing another.
