Words of Life: The Bible, or Book of Mormon?

Luke 21:8 “And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.”
Liahona, ‘The Book of Mormon Brings Abundance,’ July 2018 “It is not just that the Book of Mormon teaches us truth, though it indeed does that. It is not just that the Book of Mormon bears testimony of Christ, though it indeed does that, too. But there is something more. There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path. The scriptures are called “the words of life” (D&C 84:85), and nowhere is that more true than it is of the Book of Mormon. … Do eternal consequences rest upon our response to this book? Yes, either to our blessing or our condemnation.
“Every Latter-day Saint should make the study of this book a lifetime pursuit. Otherwise he is placing his soul in jeopardy… Let us not remain under condemnation…” – Ezra Taft Benson [emp. mine] (more…)

Titus 1:16; “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate”.
Chances are that most everyone has known somebody living in open rebellion towards God, their parents, or society at large. It might be someone whom you dearly love, or your coworker, or maybe it’s the person looking at you in the mirror each morning.
Today we’re catching a bird’s eye view of more than one hundred experts who’ve known a thing, or two about Mormonism. Their insight provides valuable proof of what many members of the Church need to come to terms with in his/her own life. Rebelling against the One True God of the Bible.
We’ve seen hundreds of quotes by Mormon leaders who claim they know God, but in reality they’re following a man who schemed his way into society with a vocabulary lifted from the KJV Bible.
The Gates of Hell Haven’t Prevailed!

Matthew 16:18; “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
On your way to work today, how many Christian churches did you drive past?
When you went to church last week, did you remember to thank Him for each miracle you just witnessed?
Each time any of us sees another Christian, do we think of Jesus first, then give thanks for the miracle He performed? A church building alone stands as a testament to what He’s done, not to mention the people filling its pews!
Dear sweet Jesus told us in Matthew 16:18 the ‘gates of hell would not prevail’ against His church, yet it’s easy for us to take His words for granted (myself included). Not only do we live in a country that affords us the freedom to worship Him, we also have the freedom to either accept, or reject, what our Bibles tell us.
Plagiarizing Esther and Mark for Half a Kingdom

Esther 5:3; “Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.”
Young Woman’s Journal: V 2, No. 10, July 1891, p. 466
“OUR SUNDAY CHAPTER. WORDS AND INCIDENTS OF THE PROPHET JOSEPH’S LIFE. Springville, Utah, May, 1891.
…On one occasion while the prophet was waiting for his boots to be repaired by my brother Dimick in Nauvoo he indulged in recounting personal services rendered him by Dimick; he exhibited his gratitude and greatness of soul in this way:
He said, “Now, Dimick, in return for such acts, you may ask of me what you will and it shall be given you, even if it be to the half of my kingdom.”
Dimick told it to me, and said that in thinking what he should ask for, decided he would not ask for anything that would impoverish Joseph, nor would he ask for worldly honors or goods, but made this request:
“Brother Joseph, I want that where you and your father’s house are (having reference to eternity) there I and my father’s house may be also.”
Joseph sat in meditation but a moment, and then said, “Dimick, in the name of Jesus Christ it shall be even as you ask.’” – Yours truly, O. B. Huntington

The Book of Mormon proves itself to be a false gospel in a number of ways, so today we’re looking at a half dozen verses in the first chapter of the first book to find out why.
Putting things in perspective
Collectively speaking, there are 6.604 verses in the BoM, and by the time you get to verse nine in first Nephi you’ll have already been given a dozen or more reasons to prove the BoM isn’t from God. In vss. 1-8, the experiences of Lehi closely resemble the visions of Moses, Daniel, and Isaiah.

1 Nephi 1:4; “For it came to pass in the commencement of the first year of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah…”

A Different Christ
The Book of Mormon contains large amounts of Isaiah’s writings. In 2nd Nephi chapters 12-24 you’ll find a rewrite of Isaiah chapters 2-14. With the exception of Nephi inserting a thought of his own here and there this entire passage is identical to the KJV written in 1611.
Ask your Mormon friends how Nephi’s translation of Isaiah is so similar. How did Nephi’s writings translate into 1611 English when he lived circa 550 BC? If he was writing in Reformed Egyptian certainly there must be some variation in sentence structure, punctuation and words.
